How does a mystery work here?

Each case has a fixed set of places, suspects with their own stories, and clues hidden in searches and conversations. The solution lives only on our server. When you're sure, accuse a suspect and cite the clues that prove it. Two wrong accusations and the culprit gets away.

Can the AI tell me who did it?

No, because it doesn't know. The AI game master only sees what the engine has revealed so far, which is exactly what you have seen.
