Alder Hill School's chess tournament is in its final round, and the Rook Trophy, a gilded chess piece on a wooden base, has disappeared from its glass case in the trophy corridor. The case was locked, and the key hangs in the staff room. You are a visitor who came to watch the games, and the headteacher has asked you to look into it quietly before the ceremony. Three people were near the corridor during the final round: the chess club teacher Mr. Dalton Abernethy, the tournament's top-ranked player Imogen Frost, and the caretaker Mr. Ravi Osei.
Your goal: Work out who took the Rook Trophy and accuse them with evidence (at least two key clues). Two wrong accusations and the ceremony goes ahead without the answer.
Sharp-eyed and fidgety, with chalk on her sleeve from the demonstration board.
Calm, tired, with a ring of keys at his belt and a mop never far away.
Rumpled, kind, and visibly worried about something other than the marking.
